Celebrating community through the sounds of the season.

Story by Joe Hirschmugl

Meijer found a great way to set a merry tone at stores across the Midwest this holiday season.

The Midwestern retailer welcomed students from more than 100 local schools to carol and perform everyone’s favorite holiday music. There were singers, marching bands, jazz bands and string sections all adding some pep to everyone’s step.

Stores featured hour-long performances in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky, and Wisconsin.

“We are fortunate to be in a great community and have some talented students who wanted to volunteer their time for a good cause,” said Josh Kietzman, Store Director from Danville, Ill. “It was a wonderful opportunity to provide a seasonal soundtrack for shoppers as the minutes tick ever closer to holiday celebrations.”
